Biography: Gershon Iskowitz was born in Kielce, Poland, in Although he demonstrated a keen interest in the visual arts at a very young age, he received no formal training during his youth. With the outbreak of World War II, his dreams of studying fine art at the Warsaw Academy were never realized. Gershon Iskowitz was active/lived in Ontario, Manitoba / Canada, Germany. Gershon Iskowitz is known for expressionist landscape and non objective painting, graphics.

  Ken Lum is the winner of the Gershon Iskowitz Prize.. This award is presented annually to an artist who has made an outstanding contribution to the visual arts in Canada. It includes a $50, cash prize and a solo exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario within two years.   The Gershon Iskowitz Foundation in partnership with the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) is pleased to announce that Shuvinai Ashoona is the recipient of .
